Unique Advantages of Pritchard Power Systems
High efficiency, with comparable levels achieved by the first two Pritchard automotive prototypes to those of modern internal combustion engines. Low emission, low greenhouse energy. Emission test results on an earlier Pritchard unit by several emissions authorities indicate that it is possible to meet new USA Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV) standards using our latest design, without expensive enhancements to the exhaust system. Function on a variety of safe and environmentally sustainable fuels (ethanol, biodiesel, CNG, natural gas) without significant modification to the combustion chamber. Even if operating on fossil fuels such as petrol/gasoline, emissions from a Pritchard unit are lower than those from conventional automotive engines due to the manner in which the fuel is fired and the low consumption. Quiet running Simple and safe, with no pressure vessels, gears or clutch and no expensive enhancements to meet modern day emissions standards (refer above) Light weight Anticipated low manufacturing costs (relative to conventional internal combustion engines) at any given scale of manufacture. Excellent fuel consumption of approximately 5 Litres per 100 kilometres on the open road and similar in stop/start city driving (estimated for latest design). Good "drivability". In automotive applications, the smooth and rapid acceleration of Pritchard-powered vehicles, combined with their quiet-running characteristics, ensure an extremely enjoyable driving experience. In stationary applications (eg. power generators), the advantages of quiet operation and low emissions are critical. With the added benefit of multi-fuel capabilities (eg. biomass such as agricultural or forestry waste), the potential benefits for third world village communities without access to grid power are enormous. |
